Support site for learners of English receives 1 million visitors

28 April 2009

Cambridge ESOL is pleased to announce that their candidate support website has recently received one million visitors since its launch in 2007.

This incredibly popular online resource is part of Cambridge’s wider commitment to supporting learners of English. It offers support and advice to those learning general, professional and Young Learners English and gives specific information on the Cambridge ESOL exams. Visitors can see what to expect on the exam day, how the individual papers are broken down and read frequently asked questions. There is also an online results facility giving candidates instant access to results on the day of release and advice on using certificates around the world.

Sharon Harvey, Assistant Director, Support Products and Services explains the reasons behind the success of this site:

“With an increasing number of people choosing English language tests, it is essential that we continue to find new ways to support them through the whole exam process.  The volume of students using this free central resource is very encouraging and we will continue to develop the site further in line with changing candidate needs.”

For those wishing to keep a record of their skills and experience, they can also take advantage of the “My ePortfolio”. The electronic portfolio uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to allow students to record their ability in a way that is easily understood by employers, colleges and Universities on an international scale. Students can use the portfolio to record their language learning, update a personal ‘language’ biography and keep a repository of their work and achievements. New features for the site will be launched in 2009.
