Cambridge award Latin American lawyers
24 June 2009
A group of practising lawyers from Costa Rica were recently awarded with a legal English qualification set by a department of the University of Cambridge. The British Ambassador to Costa Rica, His Excellency Tom Kennedy presented the successful students with a Cambridge ILEC (International Legal English Certificate) certificate at recent awards ceremony.
Jorge Alberto Gutierrez Diermissen, Doryan Miller, Maria Jesus Bolaños Gonzalez and Jose Francisco Acevedo Gutierrez collected their certificates at the ceremony held at International House, Costa Rica Instituto Británico.
The International Legal English Certificate (Cambridge ILEC) is based on realistic tasks and topics that legal practitioners encounter in their daily lives. The qualification is aimed at those with a working knowledge of English who want to develop their skills further in a legal environment. The successful Costa Rican lawyers – who often have to use English in their working lives – now have proof of their language ability in line with internationally recognised standards.
