Cambridge announce massive exam dates boost for 2010

21 May 2009

Cambridge ESOL is pleased to announce a number of additional exam dates for 2010.

Opportunities to take Cambridge ESOL exams will increase by nearly 50% in 2009/10 as more exam sessions are added to the calendar. The new dates will be mostly for computer-based versions of the exams, although opportunities to take the paper-based versions will also increase for 2010.

The emphasis on computer-based testing is in response to students who are increasingly more comfortable working with a keyboard than paper and pen. A rigorous programme of pre-testing has ensured that the technology used is robust enough for global use and also that the computer-based test delivers exactly the same high-quality assessment as the paper-based tests.

Chief Executive of Cambridge ESOL, Dr Michael Milanovic said: “Our mission has always been to offer the highest quality tests, and to give as many people as possible the opportunity to take them: using technology where appropriate has been a significant part of that. When airmail became available during the first part of the 20th century, it reduced the time it took candidates to receive their results from months to weeks – computer-based testing has potential benefits which will be just as important.”
