Increasing access to Cambridge ESOL exams in Catalonia

10 December 2008

A high level agreement signed in Barcelona will allow students at 434 schools throughout Catalonia to take Cambridge ESOL exams.

Fundació Escola Cristiana will work with Cambridge ESOL to provide access to the exams through its network of 434 schools.

Fundació Escola Cristiana will collaborate closely with Cambridge ESOL’s office in Madrid to offer training and support to teachers, who will be able to take the Teaching Knowledge Test as part of their professional development.

This agreement follows the successful collaboration between Cambridge ESOL and Kristau Escola in the Basque Country, a sister organisation of Fundació Escola Cristiana which is already offering the exams and helping with the development of a number of new qualifications.

Fundació Escola Cristiana was created in 1977. It presently includes 434 schools, with a total of 264,000 pupils. The not-for-profit organisation is headed by the Archbishop of Barcelona and the Secretary General is Enric Puig i Jofra.
