Business Language Testing Service (BULATS)
For companies which need a rapid, accurate means of assessing language skills for recruitment, training, benchmarking and staff development, BULATS offers:

- computer-based testing with optional tests of Speaking and Writing.
BULATS was developed and is jointly run by Cambridge ESOL, the Alliance Française (France), Goethe- Institut (Germany) and the Universidad de Salamanca (Spain) in more than 30 countries.
BULATS is a multilingual system, available in English, French, German and Spanish. This enables multinational businesses to establish the same standards for language proficiency across their entire organisation.
The test can be paper-based, or can be taken by computer, and will shortly be available as a web-based exam.

BULATS Benchmarking
BULATS Benchmarking is a system developed by Cambridge ESOL which allows businesses to audit their language ability and ensure they have the right skills and training in place.
The system works through a series of simple forms filled in by managers and individual employees. The results can be plotted against each other to indicate the desired level of language skills for carrying out the work, the skills which exist within the organisation, and where any gaps in language skills may lie.
BULATS Benchmarking can be a useful tool for making decisions about promotion or secondment overseas, screening job applicants and setting language standards for potential recruits.
